Why use a Pond Aeration System?
A healthy pond is all about nutrient and oxygen balance. The level of oxygen and
how it is distributed throughout the water column is one of the keys to pond
health. Oxygen in a pond comes from two natural sources - diffusion from the air
and, most importantly, as a byproduct of photosynthesis. An imbalance of
oxygen occurs during the night, overcast days, ice/snow cover when no sunlight is present and photosynthesis
cannot occur. During periods of no light, plants, fish and algae continue
respiration, removing oxygen from the pond. Under extreme conditions, a low
concentration of oxygen could kill or detrimentally affect the pond life. An
aeration system allows you to supplement the actions of nature by adding a
supply of diffused oxygen.
Temperature also has a major impact on a pond's balance of oxygen. As the
temperature increases, thermal stratification - the difference in
temperature at different depths of water - starts to occur. As the temperature
rises, algae starts floating to the surface and begins blocking the sun from the
lower layers of the pond, creating a poor environment for oxygen production.
Your fish population is also restricted to the upper layers of the pond and if a
condition called turn-over occurs (a mixing of the upper oxygenated layers with
the lower un-oxygenated layers, due to a rain or wind event) you could
experience a fish kill. In low oxygen conditions, natural bacteria do not
consume decaying organic matter quickly, leaving decaying vegetation, fertilizer
run-off, fish waste and other nutrients available to feed excessive weed and
algae growth.

Aeration is the key to pond and fish health. Allow your pond to breathe by
adding diffused oxygen to the water column. Eliminate stagnant-thermally
stratified water, increase water circulation and reduce muck, resulting in a
clean, clear, balanced pond ecosystem.
Vertex
bottom aeration systems provide a beneficial and cost effective method of
improving both the water quality of your pond and it's overall health. The
Vertex aeration system consists of a small shore mounted compressor(1/3-1 hp),
feeding a configuration of self-cleaning flexible membrane diffusers. Positioned
on the pond bottom, each diffuser station produces millions of small 500-1000
micron sized bubbles, creating a slow moving current that entrains the entire
water column providing aeration through surface contact. Designed to be both
efficient and cost effective for our customers, Vertex aeration systems can
aerate up to an 18 acre lake with as little as 2/3hp! With very low monthly
operating costs, low maintenance (self-cleaning diffusers), and no potentially
dangerous electricity in the water we think this is the perfect aeration system.
Gain
control of your pond Eco-system by employing an aeration system. We make
choosing the right aerator easy. First, Vertex manufactures the best aerator on
the market. Independent tests confirm that no other aerator performs as
well as Vertex. Second, we offer FREE aeration consultation. Simply click
on Live Chat or call our Toll-Free number and give us some details about your
pond. Don't worry
if you're unsure of the size of your pond. Satellite technology enables us to
measure ponds in most parts of the country. With these measurements, we can help
you determine which product is right for your pond, based on it's size, shape,
slope and power availability.

Pond Aeration is a key to water and fish health. Allow your pond to breathe, by adding diffused oxygen to the water column. Eliminate stagnant water, increase water circulation, reduce muck, eliminate thermal stratification. Don't guess which Vertex aerator is right for your farm, irrigation or retention pond, give us a call, email or click on Live Chat for a no obligation consultation. An aerator is a big investment and we can help you select the right product for the size, shape, slope and depth of your pond. Vertex has such a broad selection of pond aerators that we have the most popular models on the site, but we can aerate any pond or lake.
Aeration is a key to pond health! Farm Ponds, Backyard Ponds, Retention and Irrigation Ponds all need aeration, which has proven to increase water clarity, reduce odors and muck and eliminate thermal stratification and stagnation.
Beneficial Bacteria helps you reduce weeds and algae without the use of pond chemicals. Natural pond treatments balance the pond ecosystem so the potential for invasive weeds and excessive algae are reduced. Go ahead and swim, irrigate or just enjoy looking at your pond without any water use restrictions.
Colorant or Pond Dye is a great tool for any pond owner. Our PureBlue Pond Dye
uses a proprietary blend of water soluble natural dyes to give you a
brilliant natural blue color that is designed to limit the sun-in
effect limiting plant and algae growth.
