Test Pond #1
Adair, Michigan
The results are clear, our test pond #1 has a great start on the season. With regular dye and bacteria treatments this pond is now Clean, Clear and we think, a great color blue. In the aerial photo at the top of the page, note the untreated pond to the south of #1. This pond is showing the expected signs of an unbalanced or eutrophic pond Eco-system. With virtually the same environmental factors this untreated pond has a high nutrient load feeding weeds and algae. As you can see in the image, this pond is covered with algae. Over the winter this algae has died and fallen to the bottom of the pond to decay, adding to the nutrient load once again. Our latest picture from 5-09-09 illustrates that even with the buds on the trees blooming, we have NO algae blooms and our pond remains-Clean-Clear and Blue. We will update this page with new photos during the season. You will be amazed at the difference between a managed pond and one left to age.
